So Far...

I've been really pleased with how Japanese has been going so far. I feel we've been advancing at a pace that matches my strong desire to familiarize myself with and eventually master the language. I've really enjoyed having a language lab section where we can practice the pronunciation of Japanese, especially since so many sounds in Japanese can be difficult for a Western tongue. I'm excited to learn the intricacies of Japanese in the coming months, starting with katakana.

Why

Ever since I can remember I've been interested in East Asian cultures. As a kid, anime, manga and monster movies saw my interest shift more specifically to Japan. I first visited Japan when I was 15 and it was everything I had ever hoped it to be. I've been back two more times since then in the last 4 years. I've come to be interested in all elements of Japanese culture: food, films, tradition, history, art and of course, language. I'm happy to finally be taking Japanese formally and am excited for the year to come.
